Environmental Installation 2017 - 2018 Sharon Loper

The inspiration for this project is taken from a profound respect and admiration for the planet and the creatures that inhabit it.

THE RAVEN AND THE WOLF
In Greek mythology ravens are said to be a symbol of good luck and freedom. The male raven builds the outer protective stick portion of the nest. The female raven builds the inner cradle cup for her eggs. The fabricated nest symbolizes the raven.
The Wolf is the symbol of guardianship, ritual, loyalty, and spirit. This animal has the ability to make quick and firm emotional attachments within the group. The wolf has a deep soul and has never been known to harm humans.

Both the wolf and the raven mate for life, are highly intelligent, and share food with one another. The connection between these two creatures is as powerful as their essence.

Nest: fabricated on site from branches found at UCSC Arboretum
